Our skin is the largest organ of our bodies and in some ways the most delicate. It is exposed to pollution, the weather and anything we care to put on it. It can also be affected by our diet. There are some things that could be damaging your skin without you even realizing, and if you can prevent these things your skin will benefit.

Greasy Foods

We all need good fats to be part of our diet, but these are not found in greasy foods. When you are eating a burger and fries you should be aware that they can have an adverse effect on your skins, and the same goes for anything else greasy.  Foods that are high in antioxidants will improve the condition of your skin so swap that burger and fries for blueberries, raspberries, tomatoes, and leafy green vegetables.

Too Much Alcohol

Most people know that too much alcohol can damage your liver, but not everyone is aware that it can also damage your skin. It dehydrates your body, which makes your skin dry and flaky. Although it may make you feel good, keep it to an occasional glass to avoid harming your skin.


The cigarettes you smoke contain carbon dioxide as well as nicotine and various other chemicals. These lower the level of oxygen that reaches your skin and reduces blood flow.  Smoking will also deplete some nutrients that your skin needs to repair itself, such as vitamin C.

It is not an easy habit to get rid of, but with help from your physician or using such aids a cheap e juice or nicotine patches, you may find it a little easier to stop and your skin will most certainly benefit. More importantly, your health will improve significantly too.

Showers That Are Too Hot Will Dry Your Skin

A hot shower can be very tempting and it can sometimes be difficult to leave the warmth of them. However, a long hot shower will wash away the natural oils in your skin and make it very dry.   Drop the temperature a little and don’t stay in the shower too long. When you get out immediately moisturize your skin all over and then it will stay soft to touch.

Don’t forget The Sunscreen Even In Winter

It is not just in the summer months you need to wear sunscreen; the sun can damage your skin any time of year. It will make your skin age quicker and also the is always the chance of it causing cancer.  Any sign of the sun and you should be wearing sunscreen, even if there is snow on the ground.

Glasses And Phones Collect Germs

Everyone should clean their glasses and phone regularly. Just think how many times you put them down on the table in a café, for instance. They can pick up all sorts of germs that you will not be aware of because they are not visible to the naked eye. These can lead to infections and breakouts but they can be avoided if you clean and disinfect your glasses and phone.
